FRIENDSHIP TRAVEL PROGRAM (FTP)

The FTP was established to allow non-airline persons to travel on scheduled service flights operated by HA.

You will be provided with eight (8) FTP vouchers. FTP vouchers lost or misplaced will not be replaced. The FTP vouchers are pre-printed with your name, employee number, hire date and home address.

Eligible Passengers

Each Eligible Employee or Retiree may select from one (1) to eight (8) individuals who may utilize FTP transportation. These FTP passengers may be members of your family or they may be your friends or associates of your choice --they do not have to be related to you. It is not necessary for you to travel with the FTP passenger.

FTP travel may NOT be used by anyone other than the passenger named on the FTP ticket, nor for any of the following purposes:

( In pursuit of the passenger's regular business or profession, or for the purpose of engaging in activities which, in the judgement of HA, are adverse to HA's interest.
( To forward unaccompanied children; to escort or act as guardian of a minor or incapacitated revenue passenger.
( For credit under HA's HawaiianMiles Program.

FTP PASSES ARE NOT FOR RESALE BY ANYONE, OR FOR SALE BY YOU AT AN AMOUNT HIGHER THAN THE FACE VALUE OF THE TICKET.

Employee/Retiree Responsibility

You are responsible for notifying the FTP passengers for whom you obtain tickets of the proper rules and procedures associated with travel, as specified below. These rules are the same as those for any Pass Travel by Eligible Employees and Eligible Family Members. See Section 3.

You will be responsible for the conduct of each FTP passenger for whom you obtain FTP tickets to the same extent that you are responsible for your own conduct when using Pass Travel. Violation of HA travel policy by an FTP passenger will be treated as a violation by you, and you will be subject to disciplinary action.

Since it is your obligation and that of your selected FTP passengers to put the highest priority on preserving HA's service to its revenue passengers, see Section 5 for travel conduct for FTP passengers. It is suggested that you provide your FTP passenger with a copy of these rules:

FTP tickets are valid on HA only and travel must commence during the calendar year which vouchers were issued year (January 1 through December 31) and travel must be completed by January 31 of the following year.

Should HA cease service to a city, no FTP travel will then be available to or from that city. If you have purchased a FTP ticket to such city, the ticket price will be refunded to you.

Class of Service

FTP passengers will be boarded on a space available basis, and in coach class only. FTP passengers are able to purchase First Class upgrades at airport ticket counters on the day of travel. Upgrades may be purchased at the then current rate offered to space available revenue passengers. First Class upgrades will be limited to FTP passengers 10 years of age or older. Reservations are not permitted for standby First Class upgrades purchased by FTP passengers and SA5F Boarding Priority will be used for boarding.

Children under age 2 require a full fare FTP ticket if they require a seat. If no seat is required for the child under age 2, there is no charge for domestic travel and no FTP ticket is required. However, for international travel an FTP ticket is required and the fare is 10 percent of the FTP fare plus taxes/fees and subject to a minimum fare. For further information on pass travel charges, see Section 12.

Ticket Purchase

You must redeem FTP vouchers for tickets. The FTP passenger may not present the FTP voucher at time of travel to purchase tickets. You will be permitted to purchase a one-way or round trip ticket on HA, with presentation of valid company ID. If you are purchasing tickets at the ATO, you should do so during the designated hours for employee ticketing. See Section 4.

You must sign, date and indicate your daytime telephone number on the back of the voucher in the space provided.

Proper completion of the routing on the FTP voucher is very important in determining the cost of the FTP ticket and in purchasing the ticket. Here are some helpful rules.

  1. Each FTP voucher is good for the purchase of a one-way or one round trip FTP ticket. Double round trips are not permitted. Circular inter-island round trips are permitted, but will increase the cost of the ticket. Backtracking or overflying is not permitted.
  2. The routing on the voucher must be completed so that it reflects the actual trip routing, including stopovers, connections or changes in flight numbers. Surface travel between cities must also be reflected on the voucher.
  3. There is ample space on each voucher for a round trip from departure point A through normal connections to destination point B and return. Trips that do not fit on the voucher (8 legs) will require two vouchers for ticket purchase.
  4. Form of payment can either be cash, personal check or credit card. HA credit cards will only be accepted at Hawaii locations. Payment must be made by the employee/retiree.

Meal Listing

Meal Listing is required for all transpacific and South Pacific flight segments. The Employee/Retiree MUST Meal List the FTP passenger in HA's reservations system in the same manner as employees/retirees would list themselves (See Section 6). The Employee/ Retiree must provide the passenger's name, travel dates and routing when calling reservations.

Limitation Of Companions And Boarding Priority

You are limited to two (2) companions (i.e., FTP, parent) traveling on the same boarding priority per flight according to your date of hire.

FTP passengers traveling without you, or FTP passengers in excess of 2 traveling with the employee will be boarded using SA5Y Boarding Priority. Among FTP passengers, boarding priority will be determined by your date of hire.

HELPFUL HINTS

  1. Because the boarding priority of FTP passengers is lower than employees, FTP passengers traveling just before a holiday period may encounter full flight loads which could force extreme travel delays for the duration of the holiday period.
  2. The FTP Program was not designed to handle passengers traveling due to a family emergency. Use of FTP tickets for such situations may result in frustration due to the standby status of FTP passengers.
  3. Upon receipt of your FTP tickets, verify that passenger names and routings are the same as requested.
  4. Be sure to record the ticket number of each ticket issued. In the event the ticket is lost, the ticket number will be required to permit refund of the ticket. In the event the tickets are lost prior to completing travel, new tickets must be issued.
